Match reports - Week 2

After the matches been called off last week due to snow the One Ummah and Isoc Legends were eager to start their first games of the season.

One Ummah 3 - 1 Victorious Secret

The One Ummah team line up was Zeeshan, Mahdiyar, Koosh, AK and Aimen.

It seemed like the One Ummah players were inspired from listening to the Malcolm X talk by Dr Asim Saeed earlier in the evening as they dominated the game against 'Victorious Secret'. The opposition had the first shot on goal but it was well saved by Zeeshan. A neat exchanges of passes between Aimen and AK unlocked the defence and Aimen rifled the ball at the back of the net! Koosh and AK controlled the midfield.

'Victorious Secret' made regular substitutions in the hope of getting back in the game. They thought they had got back in the game when they had the ball at the back of the net but the striket admitted he was in the box when he scored. Who needs a referee when you have honest players on the pitch?

The One Ummah started to pass the ball faster in the search for the second goal which would kill the game. Mahdiyar played a delightful cross from defence which took the opposition by suprise and Aimen had time and space to slot the ball in the past the keeper for his second goal! Moments later Aimen grabbed a deserved hat-trick! The One Ummah took their foot off the gas pedal and the opposition managed to get a consulation goal. The match finished 3 -1 to the One Ummah.

Isoc Legends 0 - 1 Bag of Balls

The Isoc Legends team lineup was Zeeshan, Tarn, Nabeel, Hashim and Oday.

Isoc Legends had a much tougher ordeal when they played 'Bag of Balls.' The Legends keeper was in inspirational form and had to several good saves in the first 10 mintues to keep the score 0-0. The opposition were beginning to think if the keeper could be beaten! Their goal came in the most unfortunate of circumstances. The striker kicked the ball from the narrowest of angles towards the goal. The ball hit the post and rebounded off the keeper and in slow motion trickled past the goal line. The keeper flung himself towards the ball to clawed the ball out the net. It was one of those 'Frank Lampard  World Cup moments' but goal line technology was not needed as the keeper admitted the ball has crossed the line.

As the Legends searched for an equaliser the gaps began to appear in the defence and many times the Legends were caught on a counter attack. The post came to the rescue more then once as the opposition could not get the second goal. The Legends grew in confidence and began to pass the ball better. The Legends had two great chances to snatch a draw in the last 5 minutes but Nabeel's long range effort hit the post and Tarn's shot was too close to the keeper when he was put through one on one. The game finished 1-0 and the Legends suffered their first defeat of the season. Two key players (Tony and Azhar) were missing from the side and it was the first time the team had played together. I am sure the team will improve inshaAllah.
